EZPZ Varroa Mite Control Cage – Queen-Laying Design

Effective Varroa mite control is essential for successful beekeeping. At EZPZ, we’ve designed a unique queen cage that enables an artificial brood break without fully stopping queen pheromone production.

This cage allows the queen to lay eggs, but the limited space prevents those eggs from developing into full brood—helping to maintain queen pheromones and colony cohesion without the drawbacks of a full queen cage.

How it Works:

Brood Break + Oxalic Acid Treatment:

Cage the queen for two weeks, then release. One week later, treat with a full dose of oxalic acid vapor—right after old brood has emerged but before new brood is capped. This optimizes Varroa kill rates.

Laying-Only Cage:

The cage is designed so the queen can continue laying eggs, but the confined size prevents full brood development. This keeps her pheromone signal strong, reducing the risk of queen rejection or supercedure after release.

Mounts on Langstroth Frame Top Bar:

Easy installation, fits standard Langstroth frames. Use standalone or allow bees to draw comb around it.

Worker Access:

Bees can freely enter and exit to feed the queen and distribute her pheromones throughout the hive.

Gentle Queen Release & Maintenance:

Just remove the plug, return the frame, and the queen will walk out on her own. The back panel slides open for careful inspections.
